☝️ How we rated the services below:
Craft beer bars have become increasingly popular in London over the past few years, and as avid enthusiasts of this scene, we’ve scoured the city to find the best spots to grab a delicious brew. In our review of craft beer bars in London, we considered several important criteria including:
- Atmosphere: We understand that taste isn’t everything when it comes to enjoying a good craft beer. The ambience and overall vibe of a bar can make or break the experience. From cosy neighbourhood pubs to trendy taprooms with live music, we looked for places with unique characters that match their respective audiences.
- Selection: Of course, one of the most crucial aspects of any craft beer bar is its selection. We sought out venues with comprehensive lists featuring both local breweries and international imports. Variety is key here – from pale ale to IPA – ensuring there was something for everyone.
- Knowledgeable staff: When trying new beers or unsure what you're looking for, having friendly & knowledgeable staff who are happy to offer suggestions adds significantly to an enjoyable time in these bars. Bartenders need not be able to give lectures on Hops but they do help navigate through unfamiliar territory.
- Location & Accessibility: As much as great quality speaks volumes on its own restaurants also must be accessible so could we recommend them without qualms? We took into account walkability/transit while locating each spot!

Old Fountain
⭐ A Personal Take on Old Fountain:
Old Fountain, the independently owned pub in London that everyone seems to be talking about, is indeed a hidden treasure. I recently had their Sunday Roast and it was nothing short of fantastic! The relaxed atmosphere coupled with their wide range of beer menu made for a great time out. Not to forget their friendly staff who made me feel at home.
As someone who loves rooftop seating areas, I couldn't pass up the chance to check theirs out as well. And boy, was it worth it! It's definitely one cool spot to hang out while enjoying some good food and drinks.
My taste buds were equally fulfilled when I tried the Uptown Caribbean food – the chicken melted so perfectly in my mouth. Even better was how balanced and flavoursome the veg option (Chickpea & Spinach) tasted – not too spicy either!
The service here is top-notch but do note that you have to order everything at once due to waiting times at the counter. Nonetheless, Old Fountain remains one jewel among London pubs – definitely worth visiting if you're on the lookout for an unforgettable gastronomic experience!

Customer Reviews | What Customers had to say: Very good pub near Brixton Station. Three cask beers – and 1 cider – on handpump when I last visited including a porter and a stout. Lots of outdoor seating. A few Japanese dishes available…. No nonsense cozy craft bar close to the station. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, super patient too. Saturday evening a group of us were tasting beers and we received good advice so that each person truly enjoyed selected drink. Will be back nex… |
The Euston Tap
⭐ Our Unvarnished Impressions of The Euston Tap:
The Euston Tap – where do I even begin? This small and quirky pub immediately caught my attention with its intriguing location in an old monument just a stone's throw away from Euston train station. The rugged atmosphere oozes character, drawing me in to explore what the pub has to offer.
Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly staff who welcomed me into their bustling world of independent beers, ales and ciders from different breweries. As someone who is passionate about craft beer, this place truly amazed me with their wide variety of drinks on offer. Their selection is widely regarded as one of the best by London standards!
As if that wasn't enough, they also have an upper floor which can be accessed through a spiral staircase. Despite being compact inside, there were plenty of tables outdoors for additional seating options. It's worth noting that food choices are limited to crisps however it's hard not to appreciate the unique experience offered at The Euston Tap.
Overall, The Euston Tap provides a refreshing break from mundane watering holes frequented by tourists or locals alike. If you're looking for something offbeat and daringly different – look no further than this hidden gem!

Customer Reviews | What Customers had to say: Probably the best pub for people using Euston station. Small, characterful place with a good ramge of beer. How the fitted a first floor room in I don't know but it's handy if you can manage the spiral staircase…. Excellent small and quirky pub. Housed in a former gatehouse to Euston station (apparently beer cellar is old rifle range underground!). Wide range of excellent real ales, craft beers and lagers. Food: crisps! Friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit… |

Pelt Trader
⭐ A Personal Take on Pelt Trader:
Pelt Trader, oh how I adored this hidden gem tucked away under Cannon Street station! It was hard to resist the temptation of their extensive selection of beers. From your average lager to potent pints, they had it all. The German specialty beers were particularly delightful – definitely worth trying! And if you're a cider lover, don't miss out on their real high juice cider on tap.
The atmosphere inside Pelt Trader is dark and cavernous with quirky decor adding its charm. When I visited the pub recently, it wasn't too busy around 18:30 on a Wednesday and we managed to grab a table outside. We savoured delicious pizzas which had no right to be so flavoursome in such an unassuming location! All the pizzas came impossibly thin but packed with flavour that left me wanting more.
In terms of service, while friendly enough and prompt when not too busy; staff could smile more often and engage better with customers bringing much-needed warmth into our interactions. The prices are reasonable compared to other options nearby making it my go-to post-work hangout spot before heading home.
I would highly recommend visiting Pelt Trader for any beer or pizza lover looking for something different from the usual pubs one can find in London – their eclectic range sets them apart from others – You won’t be disappointed!
👍 Our Reasons for Recommending:
- Good pub with four cask beers
- Extensive beer selection and German specials
