Being able to try all four cask ales offered was truly delightful, as they were all of excellent quality. In addition to their draught selection, they also had an impressive assortment of bottled Harvey’s ales.
The history of The Royal Oak dates back to 1898, and stepping inside feels like you are taking a step back in time. With its split bar layout and ample wooden seating, it manages to be both cosy and spacious at the same time. The large windows afford plenty of natural light while allowing for prime people-watching opportunities.
What sets this place apart is not just its beverages but also its Lebanese cuisine served by Lil Watan. A recent change in the kitchen has made this pub even more appealing! And if you happen to visit on a Monday, you can enjoy pints of Mild for only Β£3.

Now let’s talk about the pint of Guinness – oh boy, it was a thing of beauty! Rich, creamy perfection that transported me straight to the heart of Dublin. However, I must admit that the calamari didn’t quite live up to my expectations. But fear not! The delicious chips more than made up for it. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside β they were simply delightful.
One thing that truly sets The Faltering Fullback apart is its quirky charm. The terrace may have been busy when I visited, but finding a spot indoors turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Sitting at the front allowed me to soak in all the fantastic decorations and bask in natural light pouring through stained glass windows.

Their grilled cheeses and chips were absolutely delicious, perfectly complemented by a refreshing Shandy.
