The Royal Oak

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of The Royal Oak:

The Royal Oak, located on Tabard Street in London, is a pub that exudes warmth and charm. As soon as I walked through the doors, I felt a sense of comfort and relaxation. The atmosphere was inviting and the service was exemplary.

Owned by Harvey’s Brewery, this establishment offers a select range of beers from both keg and cask. What caught my attention was their inclusion of a rarely seen Dark Mild ready for pulling! Being able to try all four cask ales offered was truly delightful, as they were all of excellent quality. In addition to their draught selection, they also had an impressive assortment of bottled Harvey’s ales.

The history of The Royal Oak dates back to 1898, and stepping inside feels like you are taking a step back in time. With its split bar layout and ample wooden seating, it manages to be both cosy and spacious at the same time. The large windows afford plenty of natural light while allowing for prime people-watching opportunities.

What sets this place apart is not just its beverages but also its Lebanese cuisine served by Lil Watan. A recent change in the kitchen has made this pub even more appealing! And if you happen to visit on a Monday, you can enjoy pints of Mild for only Β£3.

In conclusion, The Royal Oak is definitely worth visiting if you find yourself in Borough area. It offers traditional charm coupled with friendly service, delicious food options, and an exceptional beer selection from Harvey’s Brewery. So grab your pint glass and make your way down Tabard Street – it will be well worth it!

The Dog And Duck

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of The Dog And Duck:

The Dog and Duck, located in the heart of Soho, is a hidden gem that will leave you with a truly memorable pub experience. Stepping inside this quaint establishment, you are immediately transported to a bygone era with its stunning Victorian decor. The beautifully detailed etched mirrors and brass chandeliers add an air of sophistication to the bar area, while the mahogany-clad servery exudes traditional charm.

Despite its small size, The Dog and Duck packs quite a punch when it comes to ambiance and character. It’s no wonder that famed painter John Constable and renowned writer George Orwell were frequent visitors here. As you climb the steep stairs to the cozy dining room or venture outside onto bustling Bateman Street, you’ll be enveloped by a cracking atmosphere that embodies everything quintessentially British.

When it comes to libations, this pub does not disappoint. With its Cask Marque accreditation and five real ales on offer, there is something for every beer aficionado. I opted for a pint of Amstel which was both enjoyable in taste and reasonably priced considering the prime location.

And let’s not forget about the food! The hearty pub grub menu satisfies any culinary craving with options like fish & chips (a personal favorite) at Β£15.50 or delectable vegan choices for those seeking plant-based delights.

Overall, my visit to The Dog And Duck was nothing short of delightful. From impeccable service to charming surroundings, this place deserves all the accolades it receives. Whether you’re exploring Soho or simply looking for a pint-worthy destination in London, make sure to put The Dog And Duck at the top of your list – trust me; you won’t regret it!

The Faltering Fullback

⭐ Our Genuine Review of The Faltering Fullback:

The Faltering Fullback, what a gem of a place! Nestled in the vibrant area of Finsbury Park, this pub is an absolute must-visit for football enthusiasts and beer lovers alike. From the moment you step foot inside, you can feel the electric atmosphere that fills every nook and cranny of this lively establishment.

Now let’s talk about the pint of Guinness – oh boy, it was a thing of beauty! Rich, creamy perfection that transported me straight to the heart of Dublin. However, I must admit that the calamari didn’t quite live up to my expectations. But fear not! The delicious chips more than made up for it. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside – they were simply delightful.

One thing that truly sets The Faltering Fullback apart is its quirky charm. The terrace may have been busy when I visited, but finding a spot indoors turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Sitting at the front allowed me to soak in all the fantastic decorations and bask in natural light pouring through stained glass windows.

Moreover, patrons are treated to some delightful Thai cuisine here as well. The pad see eew was an absolute delight for my taste buds but wished there had been more stir-fry on my plate.

While there were moments where I felt slightly uncomfortable with strangers getting too close due to post-lockdown jitters, once things settle down I’m sure it’ll be back to being one of those cosy pubs we all love so much.

All in all, if you’re looking for excellent pints (minus calamari), good food options including veggie dishes accompanied by live Irish music while enjoying an incredible beer garden resembling something out of a fairytale – make your way over to The Faltering Fullback without any delay. Trust me when I say you won’t regret it!

The Lyric

⭐ Our Genuine Review of The Lyric:

The Lyric, nestled in the heart of Soho, is a hidden gem that is not to be missed. From the moment I stepped foot into this charming pub, I was greeted with warmth and a genuine sense of hospitality. The bartender, whose knowledge of Wisconsin surprised me, went above and beyond to make my experience unforgettable. It’s these small moments of connection that truly set The Lyric apart.

As we settled ourselves at a cozy table after a long day exploring London, our tired souls were instantly rejuvenated by the lively atmosphere surrounding us. With an extensive selection of beers on offer, there was something for every discerning palate. And let me tell you – their sharing roast on Sundays is an absolute delight! Succulent meat cooked to perfection paired with delectable sides made for an indulgent feast.

While The Lyric may be in need of some tender loving care as evident from its slightly worn ambiance and cramped toilets (seriously tiny!), it’s the little imperfections that give this place character. Despite the waitress seeming somewhat unhappy during our visit, the bar staff more than made up for it with their friendly demeanor and welcoming smiles.

And don’t even get me started on the food! For just Β£6.95, I enjoyed a scrumptious meal accompanied by a refreshing soft drink – talk about value for money!

In conclusion, if you’re seeking an authentic London pub experience filled with great beer choices and delicious food offerings at affordable prices- look no further than The Lyric. It may not be perfect but its charm makes up for any shortcomings tenfold. Trust me when I say visiting this delightful establishment will leave you feeling satisfied and longing to return time and time again!

The Founder’s Arms

⭐ A Personal Take on The Founder’s Arms:

The Founder’s Arms, nestled on 52 Hopton St, London SE1 9JH, United Kingdom, is a hidden gem along the river Thames that will tantalize your senses and leave you yearning for more. I stumbled upon this delightful establishment by chance and was fortunate enough to secure a seat outside with an enchanting view of the river.

As I perused through their menu, I found that while the starters and desserts could benefit from some improvements, the main courses were nothing short of delectable. From succulent meats to flavorsome vegetarian options, The Founder’s Arms knows how to please a discerning palate. And when paired with refreshing beverages from their extensive drinks menu, it truly becomes an experience worth savoring.

One thing worth noting is their unique method of ordering via your phone. This modern twist adds convenience and speed to your dining experience. However, do beware if you’re planning an outdoor terrace booking as they couldn’t guarantee chairs for our entire party at first – but fear not! Our charming server helped us procure them from other tables.

Despite minor hiccups in service like Sunday roasts not arriving piping hot or portions appearing slightly pricey (though sizable), The Founder’s Arms retains its allure thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and awe-inspiring views of the Thames. It’s also home to what has been crowned my personal favorite Fish and Chips in all of London!

So why wait? Take delight in this culinary haven where food meets artistry amidst a backdrop fit for poetry; visit The Founder’s Arms today!
