Best Sushi in London

Calling all sushi enthusiasts! Do you find yourself craving that perfect piece of nigiri or maki roll? You're in luck because London is home to some of the best sushi restaurants in the world. With its diverse and vibrant atmosphere, it comes as no surprise that London boasts such a wide array of authentic eateries with unbeatable quality.

If Japanese cuisine seems foreign to you, then ease into it with sushi—it's an ideal starting point. Created by combining fresh raw seafood with vinegared rice and other ingredients like avocado and cucumber, two popular types include sashimi (raw fish without rice) and nigiri (small blocks of rice topped with fresh seafood).

As someone who has been living in this city for years now, I've thoroughly explored all sorts of budget-friendly conveyor-belt style joints to highly luxurious top deals—and I'm proud to say that there isn't any sushi restaurant within London limits where I haven't dined yet.

Join me on an adventure through the maze-like streets where we'll explore what makes each restaurant unique from one another and help steer you towards finding those mouth-watering rolls!

Hungry but busy hustling around Central London? Worry not. Or are you looking for a dimly lit ambience where champagne flows generously? Whatever your preference might be—this guide covers everything there is so buckle up!

Get ready to discover irresistible delights consisting of finely-crafted combinations bursting with flavour—always presented meticulously! From quick bites On-The-Go options right down to colourful rolls featuring delicious flavours—you won’t regret following our recommendations.

So why wait?! Grab some chopsticks, order miso soup along with wasabi-infused soy sauce at our top picks – sit back and enjoy what lies ahead along my personally curated journey presenting perfectly crafted pieces revolving around taste & craftsmanship!

Welcome aboard – Let's dive straight in together!

🔑 Key Takeaways:
Here's what you’ll learn from reading this article:

  • London sushi aficionados have a range of options to choose from when it comes to sampling the best sushi in town, with an array of seafood restaurants and Japanese cuisine establishments spread across the city.
  • Raw fish is at the heart of any good sushi, whether served up as sashimi or combined with vinegared rice to create nigiri or maki rolls. The quality of this foundational ingredient can make or break a dish in terms of taste and freshness.
  • While many visitors may think that they need to visit Japan for top-quality sushi, there are some truly world-class offerings available in London – thanks both to internationally trained chefs as well as those who bring years of experience from Tokyo kitchens.
  • Despite its reputation for being expensive, it is possible (albeit tricky) to sample some great sushi while keeping within budgetary constraints – meaning everyone can indulge their craving for this delicacy without breaking the bank.
  • In addition to focusing on the quality of the raw ingredients used in dishes like maki rolls, dedicated London-based purveyors also go above and beyond other elements too – such as attention-to-detail presentation styles which help elevate even everyday tempura onto a different level entirely!

☝️ How we rated the services below:
As lovers of sushi, we understand the importance of finding the best places in London to satisfy our cravings. In order to create a well-rounded review, there are certain criteria that we believe are necessary to consider when it comes to judging sushi restaurants.

  • Quality of Fish and Ingredients: At the heart of any good sushi restaurant is high-quality fish and ingredients. We paid close attention to the sourcing, freshness, and selection of fish used by each restaurant.
  • Variety of Menu Options: A great sushi restaurant will offer a diverse menu with different types of rolls, sashimi options, appetizers and more. We noted which establishments had particularly extensive menus or unique offerings.
  • Taste: Ultimately, everything boils down to taste. We were discerning in our perceptions – noting if flavours were balanced properly or not too overpowering for instance – by sampling several dishes from each place on multiple visits.
  • Presentation: Sushi is often as much about how food looks as how it tastes – so it’s important that plating should be visually attractive without being excessively fussy or complicated (unless intended). We judged the presentation according to these considerations.
  • Service/ Atmosphere: Excellent service can add significantly impact customers’ experience while the atmosphere affects their overall mood during dining at an establishment. Friendly staff alongside an aesthetically pleasing environment could therefore bump an excellent culinary experience up even further on our scale.

Unveiling the Ultimate Sushi Haven in London: Prepare for a Taste Explosion!

☝️ As if we don't have enough drama in our lives, we decided to take on the monumental task of trying out every sushi restaurant London has to offer. We brought together our team of self-proclaimed foodies, along with family and friends who had expertly pretended they knew anything about sushi. It was a journey filled with soy sauce stains, chopstick challenges and many questionable experiences… but fortuitously, we've unearthed some true gems – proving that even in the midst of chaos, you can find beauty (and delicious raw fish) in unexpected places.

Sushi Atelier – the name itself sounds like a work of art, and that's exactly what it is. I've been to this place with my friends a couple of times now, and let me tell you, every visit has left us spellbound. The sushi here is simply exquisite! If you're someone who loves the traditional experience of watching your food being prepared in front of you by an expert chef, then ordering omakase at the sushi bar is definitely worth it.

Chef Rodrigo was brilliant and explained everything so well. It seems like he puts his heart into each dish he prepares because the flavor profile begs for attention. From fatty tuna rolls to okamase – they have got everything on point. And don't even get me started on how fresh all their fish tastes!

The overall atmosphere contributes to making this culinary experience something out-of-the-world. The staff was incredibly friendly; our waitress Viktorija made some fantastic recommendations that everyone loved. Everything tasted amazing despite much of the food coming from pre-prepared bottles, which takes this restaurant’s quality up another notch.

In short: Sushi Atelier will undoubtedly revolutionize your thoughts on sushi if you haven’t tried them yet! Trust me when I say – This one-of-a-kind restaurant truly embodies its name as an artistic studio where chefs create edible artwork for customers’ pleasure – it’s utterly magical! Full marks definitely go to taste sensation and service delivery at their finest!

Sticks'n' Sushi Soho

⭐ Our Unvarnished Impressions of Sticks'n' Sushi Soho:

Sticks'n' Sushi Soho – that's the name that kept buzzing in my friend circle for weeks. With high expectations, I visited this restaurant and it proved to be worth all the hype! From the Jo Deluxe set to the Yubuki salmon appetiser, everything was presented so beautifully; it almost felt like eating art pieces rather than food. Sticks'n'Sushi Covent Garden

⭐ A Personal Take on Sticks'n'Sushi Covent Garden:

Sticks'n'Sushi Covent Garden – the name that will make your taste buds dance with joy! I had an extraordinary experience here and I must say, it's worth every penny you spend. A sushi place to remember, with heavenly dishes- from classics to creative ones , fresh fish of excellent quality and great selection of drinks, everything was just mind-blowing. The ambience of this place stands out as well due to its dim lighting making it elegant yet cosy at the same time.

I visited on my wife’s birthday without any prior reservation but we still got in thanks to their accommodating staff. From the welcoming entrance through attentive service throughout our meal, everything reflected top-notch customer service skills. What amazed me was how considerate and concerned they were about our specifications regarding non-alcoholic soy sauce since we are Muslims; they carefully ensured there was no alcohol used in all dish preparations.

The real winner for me though was their Truffle sesame cauliflower starter which made a non-cauliflower eater like me first-timers fan! Suggest don't miss trying it if despite not being a cauliflower lover like myself ;). In short, utmost value for money coupled with exceptional food presentation/cooking techniques along with superb customer attention made sure that we left Sticks N Sushi totally thrilled for every single penny spent . Will surely recommend them over sushi samba !

I'm pretty sure this was the best decision we made on a whim during our trip! We didn't have a reservation so we got lucky that we even got to do this but I'm so glad we did! Now this is pricey but worth every cent!…

ROKA Charlotte Street

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of ROKA Charlotte Street:

ROKA Charlotte Street – where do I even begin? My taste buds have never felt so alive! From the moment I walked into this Japanese haven, I knew that my dining experience was going to be special. The £99 tasting menu is a must-try; every dish is simply exquisitely presented and bursting with flavour. But it's not just about the food – the service at ROKA exceeded all my expectations too! We sat at the counter, watching in awe as the chefs prepared our dishes with such elegance and precision.

Honestly, while ROKA may have a high price point, it's worth every penny. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of London’s premier Japanese restaurants – there really is no better place for authentic fare around these parts. It was hard to choose from such an impressive selection of dishes but we absolutely loved each one we tried! And if you're still looking for more entertainment after dinner, don't forget there’s a club underneath.

Overall, ROKA left me feeling completely satisfied and buzzing with excitement. If you’re craving some delicious Japanese cuisine & you're on Charlotte street – You know what to do 🙂 We cannot wait until we get chance to visit again.

Zuma London

⭐ Our Genuine Review of Zuma London:

Zuma London has swept me off my feet with its tantalizing food, exceptional service, and overall incredible dining experience. From start to finish, I was left in awe of this restaurant's offerings. The staff knows exactly what they are doing and makes you feel welcomed from the second you step through the door. If visiting, make sure to secure a reservation in advance for an unforgettable meal.

The quality of their cuisine leaves nothing to be desired as each dish is handcrafted with precision and attention to detail. However, if there were one small complaint it would be that the tables can be close together at times which detracts slightly from the atmosphere they work so hard create. Nevertheless it didn't hinder us having great lunch dates.

My personal highlight would have been my interaction with Sebastian who went above and beyond with his impeccable customer service skills along; he even curated a selection for our table without issue ensuring we got everything perfect! Zuma may not come cheap but every penny spent is worth it for such a phenomenal culinary experience!

Overall Zuma London is well-deserved its hype within this competitive industry- ensure your next visit will leave you dreaming about coming back sooner than later!!!

Sticks'n'Sushi Canary Wharf

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Sticks'n'Sushi Canary Wharf:

Sticks'n'Sushi Canary Wharf is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing but relaxed with a chic canteen-style layout that made me feel welcome. The staff were friendly and eager to assist, which put me at ease right away. As for the food, it was simply outstanding! Every dish we had – from wagyu sticks to sushi rolls – was prepared to perfection and tasted delicious. One bite of that meaty stick and my taste buds were ignited! The sushi was fresh and flavoursome, with spicy tuna being our favourite.

What impressed me more than anything else though, was the quick service coupled with attentive servers who went above and beyond to make sure everything on our plates satisfied us. The menu had an extensive range of options you could choose from, so it took some time for us to go through them all before ordering – but once we did; oh boy did we enjoy every last bite!

The Perfect Day sharer is something not to be missed if you have a gluten-free diet too as there are lots of delicious choices included in this combo. Though slightly pricey- Sticks'n'Sushi offers value for money when talking about quality ingredients used such as Miso soup or rice options which are both very competitively priced. When it came down to drinks- Great cocktails including Japanese plum wine(I highly recommend)!

Overall an amazing dining experience-best date spot ever-I would wholeheartedly recommend this place (9/10). It's worth traveling just to try out their culinary delight again & again…looking forward:)

  • Lively atmosphere with great cocktails

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of Aqua Kyoto:

Aqua Kyoto, oh how you've captured my heart – from the moment I walked through those doors, I knew this was going to be a dining experience like no other. The entrance way is grand and inviting with a touch of modern sophistication that leaves guests feeling luxurious the moment they step foot into the restaurant. As we were seated on our beautifully decorated table overlooking Regent Street, it was impossible not to notice the stunning ambiance created by soft lighting which made for perfect pictures.

We opted for their famous Bottomless Brunch with bubbles and cocktails which exceeded expectations as we sipped on endless glasses that never seemed to run dry! Their elaborate four-course menu offered an explosion of flavours in every dish and everything tasted incredibly fresh. Aqua Kyoto knows how crucial presentation is, hence why each plate looked like a masterpiece waiting to be devoured.

Yaya Handmade Noodles & Sushi

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Yaya Handmade Noodles & Sushi:

Yaya Handmade Noodles & Sushi has truly impressed me with their incredible Japanese sushi and Chinese handmade noodles. As a huge lover of both cuisines, this place is an absolute must-visit in Fitzrovia! From the moment I stepped in to order my food, I was greeted by friendly staff who answered all of my questions.

I started off with the marinated beef shank sliced noodles which were out of this world! The beef was so tender and juicy, while the broth had such a rich umami flavor that left me wanting more. However, the real standout was their handmade sliced noodles – firm and chewy – it's amazing to find such authentic noodle-making skills at a sushi shop!

Their sushi selection did not disappoint either; everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. My favorite dish by far though was the rainbow rolls with its vibrant colors – it made for some great photos too!

What really sets Yaya apart from other places is their variety. They have starters like gyoza (my personal favorite) alongside Karaage chicken plus veggie options as well- something for everyone! Although there wasn't much seating available when I went, don't let that discourage you from visiting what’s truly one of London's gems- trust me your taste-buds will thank you!
